Home > The Haitian People > Haitian Culture Haitian Culture What is the Haitian Culture?
I was looking through my websites statistics and I realized that roughly 40% of the people coming in to www.HaitiBio.com are interested in knowing about our Haitian culture.
No kidding!
Here are the exact words they are searching for:
- Haitian culture
- Haiti monuments
- Haiti historical sites
- History of Haitian culture
- Haiti culture and children
- Haiti culture as a whole
- Haitian ethnic history
- Haitian music history
- Historical monuments in Haiti
- All about the Haitian culture
- Haitian vodoun culture
Then I took an honest look at our site and some other Haitian sites on the internet and realize that everytime we are asked about our Haitian culture, we tend to focus on politics, "First black nation", "How we defeated the french", blah! Blah! Blah!...
That's what we did, but I am not so sure that is what these internet surfers are looking for.
So... I did a search... I wanted to know exactly what the word "Culture" means... Here's what I found out.
When people ask you about your Haitian Culture they really want to know the following:
- What do Haitians believe and practice? That's Haitian cluture.
- What set of values do we have as Haitian people? That's Haitian cluture.
- What is the Haitian way of life?
- What are our Habits, our attitudes, our common activities?
- What are the Haitian traditions, norms, customs, arts, history, folklore, and institutions that Haitian people share? That's Haitian cluture.
So if I was a stranger and I asked you to tell me about your Haitian culture, what would your answer be?

Getting to know Hatian's one at a time... I've never been to Haite but my landlord was from there. I wanted to know why she yelled and threw her kid across my living room floor when she was expressing a mere curiousity about her suroundings. I also want to know why this Hatian woman ordered her tennant's around like servants and would lie to them and break the conditions of the lease with no thought or consequence (i.e. coming in a tennant's unit without reason or permission and notleaving a notice that she was there as sitipulated by the lease). Is this how Hatian woman are taught to behave?

RESPONSE TO PERSON ABOUT HAITIAN LANLORD YOUR QUESTION IS SO IGNORANT, IT DOES NOT EVEN DESERVED AN ANSWER. CLEARLY, YOU ALREADY MADE UP YOUR MIND ABOUT HAITIAN WOMEN/OR PEOPLE. I'M NOT MAKING EXCUSE FOR WHAT THAT WOMEN DID OR DIDN'T DO, I WASN'T THERE TO JUDGE.AS FOR THE WAY YOU CRITICISE SHE RUN HER APARTMENT, YOU'RE PROBABLY JEALOUSE BECAUSE SHE'S A FOREIGNER THAT COMES HERE,AND SHE'S DOING WELL. BECAUSE I HERE IT ALL THE TIME.ESPECIALLY FROM AFRICAN AMERICAN BUT YOU DONT KNOW HOW HARD SHE HAD TO WORK, WHILE YOU SAT HOME, WATCHING TV AND WHAIT FOR THE GOVERNMENT CHECK. EVEN THOUGH HAITI HAS SOME ECONOMIC & POLITICAL PROBLEM, IT DON'T MEAN THAT WE HAVE LOST OUR SENCE OF PRIDE. AND REMENBER WHEN THAT WHITE AMERICAN LADY PUT HER CHILDREN IN A CAR PUSH DOWN THE LAKE, IT WASN'T HAITIAN THAT DID IT,SO INSANITY EXIST IN EVERY CULTURE. AND WHEN I LOOK AT THE WAY THAT THE WORLD HAS TURN INTO, NO ONE REALLY HAS A COUNTRY,GOD JUST DROP US IN THIS WORLD TO LIVE AS BROTHERS AND SISTER, BUT INSTEAD, WE DICIDED TO DIVIDE AND BLAME EACH OTHER BECAUSE IT'S EASIER TO DO. THE ONLY THING THAT I HOPE FOR IS THAT WHEN IT COMES TIME FOR THE END OF THE WORLD, WE WOULD COME TO OUR SENCES AND LEAVE AS ONE. BECAUSE THERE WON'T BE NO BLACK, WHITE, RICH OR POOR.

dont judge all books by one title maybe she frustrated or angry.perharps life is not all about bying a house, which i find alot of single haitian women are doing.just to prove to others they made it in america.yet they income might be 35,000 per year, they have a morgage 4,000 per month, due too that personal problems they get to be very aggressive towards others.
